Christian Awe l iloom
Under the title 'iloom' the gallery shows the colorful work of the painter Christian Awe for the first time in a single show in their rooms. The young Berlin artist was known by his large-size, expressive paintings for which he puts on top of each other up to 15 lacquer layer which he exposes then partially again. The result are wastefully splendid works which impress by an excessive variety of colours and by the virtuoso use of strong colour contrasts. His free and apparently spontaneous artwork often leads to comparisons with works of artists of the abstract expressionism and 'Action Paintings' like Jackson Pollock and Sam Francis.
