Dietrich Klinge | Oiphe

Appropriately for the end of the year, the sculptor deals in his representations of the human figure with moments of transgression and change. He loves to play with the perception of materials, as his bronze works get their unmistakably archaic feel from a surface texture
reminiscent of wood that has been worked on with a chainsaw.

With 'Oiphe' Klinge takes up a metamorphosis by Ovid, in which a river nymph transforms into a tree. The term 'Tomoé' alludes either to the myth of one of the few, female samurai or to the black and white swirl symbol that gave rise to the Yin-Yan sign. But the most appropriate for
the pre-Christmas season is certainly the 'Figure 368', whose winged head is reminiscent of a cupid - the symbol of heavenly love.
