Jan Davidoff | Ausblühung
With our virtual series we would like to brighten up the time before the holidays and have put together a series of special artists for you.
We begin with the internationally successful German artist Jan Davidoff with his sunflower paintings, which are deeply rooted in his exploration of nature as the essence of everything past and future. Galerie Terminus has accompanied and promoted his career since his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
In the work 'Ausblühung' for example, the artist shows three individual blossoms in all their glory, like a trinity with woodcut-like black borders. In contrast, the three laser burnings are dedicated to the equally bizarre and fragile beauty of the faded plants by reducing them to their dark shadow cracks. In this way, the sunflower becomes a symbol of a cycle of blossoming and passing away, in which the core of a renewed blossoming in the coming year is already contained.
